Looking Forward to 2019
On Friday, I took a moment to look back on 2018. Now, it’s time to look toward the new year.
I’m not a big fan of resolutions. It seems like they’re good for one thing—breaking. Goals seem to be more attainable. So what goals am I planning?
In 2018, I wrote and published six books under SF Benson and four more under Nadirah Foxx. I’m planning nine books for 2019—six under SF Benson and three more under Nadirah Foxx. I’m also looking to publish a nonfiction book too.
A big goal will be adopting a more organized daily writing routine. Right now, it’s haphazard. I can knock out 3,000 words when my mind is set. Other times I can barely get 1,000 done. The internet isn’t a distraction for me. It’s all the other things I have to do in a day.
So how do I plan on accomplishing the impossible? Setting a time range for writing and then cutting it off when it’s elapsed. My ideal time for writing has been from 1:00 - 7:00 p.m. During the next week, I’ll log my word count and time. Hopefully, that’ll give me a good idea of how much time it takes me to reach 3,000 words and schedule accordingly.
I’m looking to improve my ROI (Return on Investment). Review campaigns, promotions, and marketing all things I’ll be looking at.
The new website is part of the 2019 plans. New author branding will be introduced soon.
I’ll also be looking at better ways to reach readers. Possible local craft shows to sell more books are in the works.
New swag is in the works too. I’m looking at debuting the items at my first 2019 signing in Roanoke, Virginia.
This is a two-fold endeavor. The first is expanding my creativity. At one point in my life I was a seamstress and a painter. In 2019, I want to explore the artist side again. That’s what the new swag will be about.
The other half of the equation is self-improvement. I started back in September when I switched up my diet. Hubby jumped on board, and we’re both doing Paleo. Next? Committing to a workout routine.
I’m not a stranger to fitness. Once upon a time I had my own personal training business and was a figure competitor. Those days are behind me. Exercise on that level isn’t something I want to repeat, but I do need to workout at least three days a week.
